FAQs Before Booking

Can I just show up or do I need a reservation?
Reservations are required for Black Out experiences. Experiences are often booked 1 to 3 weeks in advance so we highly recommend booking in advance. If a slot is available, you may book online up to 1 hour prior to the scheduled event. Contact us if you have any questions.

Is this scary?
The themes of our missions are exciting and thrilling! Each mission is designed with unique elements and character involvement, which Black Out is known for. At no point will any of our characters grab you as they are there to help you have a more memorable experience. Our characters perform based off of your energy so if you are really into the experience they will be too. We also have 2 versions of our missions. The full character experience which we highly recommend and a subtle version. The subtle version is ONLY available if your group has reserved the entire room and ALL available slots. While we recommend the full character experience, our goal is for everyone to have a great time.

Will I be locked in a room? What if I need to get out?
You will be in a room for 60 minutes until your team can uncover clues to help you successfully accomplish your mission to escape the room. You may request to abort the mission and leave the room at any time, just let your surveillance agent know and he/she will assist you out. Please be advised that once you leave the room, you are no longer able to participate.

Will the clues be too difficult?
Our rooms are designed to focus on team building in which all participants can participate regardless of skill, age, and athletic ability. Within the first 15-20 minutes in the room, you are left to discover clues on your own. During the next portion of your mission, your surveillance agent can assist you with as many or as little clues as your group requests. You can make it as easy or as hard as you would like. The less questions your team asks, the more challenging and vice versa. It’s all up to you and your team and how well you work together. Our goal is to make sure everyone is having a great time.

Is there an age requirement?
We recommend 13 years and older. Children 13 and under must be 1) accompanied during the game by a paying adult and 2) book the entire room.
Please contact us 24 hours in advance if you plan to have children under 13 years of age attending so we can accommodate your team. Rooms that have age restrictions will be stated under the description due to graphic content. Infants are not recommended to attend due to the intensity of our missions. Because of the difficulty level, our clues are geared towards adults. However, with 24 hours notice, Black Out will customize any of our rooms with age appropriate clues for ages 10-13 ONLY if your party has reserved the entire room. Please contact us for more details.

How much does it cost?
To experience the Black Out, the cost is $28 per person Monday-Thursday and $30 Friday-Sunday, plus tax. Although there is no minimum number of participants needed to book, we do require at least 2 participants in a mission.

Will I be in a room full of people I don’t know?
Up to 8 participants per mission ensures everyone can play (with the option to increase capacity for group events/team building). If you have not booked the entire room, you may be paired with other guests. But don’t worry, you’ll get a chance to get acquainted with your fellow team members during briefing. There is a minimum of 2 participants required for our staff to run a mission. If you have purchased 1 admission, we will notify you in advance if the mission will be cancelled or offer you to join another mission. There are no refunds.

Can I book the room just for my group?
Sure you can! All you have to do is purchase ALL the available spots for your desired time slot. For example, if there are 6 of you participating in an 8 person mission, there would be 2 available spots left for others outside of your group. If you purchase the remaining available spots the room is yours. You have the option to book for the entire mission in one transaction or book separately. If you choose to book separately, be sure your party books quickly so your chosen time slot and spots are available. While booking, simply choose your desired time slot and continue to click “add another experience” until you have reserved the number of desired spots.
